Coolant temp is not working. What is the first thing I should look at.

Coolant Temp

I have a 91 500 SL. This is the only thing that has gone wrong with this car. It has 78,000 and runs perfect.

If you can describe your problem in a bit more detail, there's plenty of people on this board, including myself that'd be willing to try and help you out.

If your temp gauge has gone South, then either the connection to the sensor came loose, or the sensor itself is bad. This is not a very expensive part. Around $20 here at Fastlane.

Disonnect the wire from the sensor and touch it to a grounded metal part of the engine (with ignition on). If the guage then goes to hot then sensor is faulty. If not then wiring or guage is faulty.

Presumably all the other guages and warning lights are OK, if not check fuses first.
