How to exit my failed MB experiment?
I have a 1987 190E 2.3 that is going to have to be put down. I've had it for about two years. There was evidence of advanced engine wear when I bought it, so it is not a surprise that it finally gave up the ghost. The engine is beyond repair by any practical means.
Now I have two problems. How do I dispose of the car? Is there any value to these things? The interior and most of the body panels are perfect. Everything worked except for a couple of electrical switches. The other dilema is whether or not to try another MB. This seemed like a fairly solid little car, but even minor repairs are so costly that driving an old one is a pretty substantial risk. Any suggestions? |
Since the car is in good shape, I am sure that many people would be interested to buy it and drop a new engine in it.

I would say put a new engine in it or put it on e-bay, you would be surprised how many people would want a good car with a bad motor.

How about donate the car to your local vocational school or salvation army? Who knows? One day, those students who had learned from your car will be fixing your MB.

Part it out, or sell it as a parts car.
Donate it to a charity, and they'll give you a tax reciept. Buy another 190E and keep it as a parts car. |
