P0455 and a flashing low fuel light
So for awhile now on my 03 W210 wagon I’ve been chasing a large leak code P0455, replaced the canister vent valve, solenoid valve, smoke tested it, OE gas cap, and after market cap, and lastly the pressure sensor in the tank. Only thing left is the charcoal canister itself, but it is unavailable, so I’m at a loss. Anyone run into this issue, or have any suggestions?

How effective is your smoke test? Done by a dealer or shade tree mechanic? My experience is a split rubber hose near the engine compartment. It normally is not gas cap nor components. You can bypass the carbon canister with a rubber hose. Computer cannot tell.

Sounds like a classic case of a lazy purge valve. The OBD test for P0455 isn't actually a leak test. When the purge valve is activated the pressure drop in the fuel tank is timed. If the pressure doesn't drop fast enough, the P0455 code is set and the low fuel lights flashes.....
