Is there a recall on cast iron fuel distributors?
 

My 77 450Sl has the cast iron type fuel distributor. I've been searching through the archives and read a post about all cast iron fuel distributors being replaced by alloy due to corrosion. Is this a recall or just a change made by the manufacturere in subsequent years/models?

As far as I've been able to find, it's just a change in design, not a recall. I have the same yr/model as you, and had to replace my fuel distributor last year. If you haven't all ready, you should consider registering your car w/ MBUSA. They will send you recall information on your car - I've gotten two notices that MB is still honoring on mine.

Just a design modification and not a recall. We have no particular preference for one over the other.
