2014 GLK350 with m276 engine - time to get into timing parts

I recently changed out the timing chain tensioners thinking that was going to quieten down the rattle I hear on cold start at 250k miles. Now after doing a little more research it sounds like it is probably one of the camshaft adjusters. Fault code is intake cam bank 2 so that is where I'll start. I'm also seeing where the timing plate on the cam can slip. I do not hear it on every start, just every now and then. Any thoughts/comments regarding this job please let me know.

Is the chain loosest (on both banks) at 40d past top dead center? That is the way I understood it when I read through the procedure.

Recently returned from a ride out to El Paso where the GLK turned over 274k miles. On return trip the results were 1565 miles, 22:28 hours, 26.4 mpg averaging 70 mph which I though was pretty good.

We did the tourist thing in San Antonio so the trip out was over 1745 miles averaging 67 mph. On the way out we stopped by The Holden Brothers Diesel shop in Boerne, Tx and they took the time to visit with us some to talk diesel. I told them the purist would not have liked to see what they did to the 300CD on Holden Brothers Restoration. They seemed to be some good ppl to hang out with.
