'88 300SE air intake temp sensor location

Mercedes makes it, Peach Tree sells it, I can't find it. Where is the Engine Intake Air Tempurature Sensor located on a 1988 300SE?

I believe it's the sensor attached to the air scoop closes to the air filter housing.

Well, no wonder I can't find it! Thanks.

A post in the referenced thread in post #3 claims that only California models had the temp sensor.

NEGATIVE!

I special ordered my '88 190E 2.6 five-speed and took delivery from South Bay ********, the MB dealer next to Zamperini Field in Torrance, California. It doesn't have and inlet air temp sensor nor an air pump or EGR valve. Later model year M103s can have have all three.

Another post in the referenced thread said his '88 190E 2.6 doesn't have a catalyst, but he's a Aussie, so different configuration than USA and CA.

Duke

P. S. I have no idea why the dealer name was censored

Thanks for the reply. I have not been able to find any EGR system on this engine. I'm sure there are many, many configurations of these vehicles,

Just for the record/future information:
Australian Delivered W126 M103s (i.e. 300SE/L) do not have an EGR, intake temp sensor OR Air Pump (the Air Pump is a symbiotic system with the EGR from my understanding).
They DO however have a Catalytic Converter (two exhaust manifold downs straighten at the floor of the vehicle & this point both pipes feed into one "collector" to a double width Catalytic Converter, then straight after the CC they split back to two lines for the rest of the system except for where they feed through the resonator & Muffler) the CC is serviced by a single Heated three wire O2 Sensor that bolts into the top of the "Collector" just before the CC.
I just thought that might help someone in the future!
