1986 560SL starts, runs, then dies after 10 seconds
 

I have a 1986 560SL that has sat a bit. I changed the battery and it starts up strong, runs for about 10 seconds, and stumbles and dies.

What are the first few things to check? Fuel pump relay?

More details might help others offer some ideas.

Assuming you crank with no throttle does it fire within a few cranks and assume a smooth fast idle of 1000-1200 revs within a 2-3 seconds.

Have you tried increasing revs to 1500-2000 before it stalls?
