Rear Sunshade not Retracting

I have a 94 S500, and have a problem with the rear sunshade.
The motor and linkages work fine, and it comes up perfectly. The problem occurs when I try to lower it.
The shade material itself only grudgingly retracts, or rolls itself up.
I can usually get it to coil-up correctly only if I try to go up-and-down with it 3-5 times.
It there an easy way to lubricate the roller ends?? I presume it works pretty much like a house window pull-down roller shade...
Thanks.

Barry

Hi Barry
Sorry I can not be of help, but I am interested in the problem. I have a '97 and will probably have troubles in the future. Would you be so kind as to post the solution when you find it. Thanks, Ed

I had this problem on my 99 s420. The sunshade was stuck in the upright position. Motor was working but vaccum plug was leaking thus making pfisst noise.

My 89 560SEL has a similar problem, upon retracting it's as if the sunshade gets caught but I can hear the motor retract all the way to a stop of some sort. A few up's and down's get's it all the way down. I have tried lubricating the rail but it still does it. I just don't bother putting it down anymore :-)

Matt.
