Heard of or saw one time some gold looking fuses. I know some of the olders fuse holders and fuses need either cleaning or replacement from time to time.

Anyone know about these "gold tipped" fuses?

You can buy them at car audio outlets. Typically, they are used exclusively for car stereo installations. Gold is a superior conductor and for audio purists, that is the only way to go.

You see gold-plated connections in home audio on quality speakers and amplifiers too. While home systems remain in the home, gold connections in a car are subject to the environment, and can tarnish over time. This will degrade sound quality (at least the purists will tell you that), so the tips will require cleaning from time to time.

Truthfully, in non-audio applications, you won't notice the difference between gold-plated fuses and nickel-plated ones. Also consider that many car audio systems are meant to look as good as they sound, especially in competition, so there is more of an aesthetic appeal to showing off a plexiglass fuse panel with gold-plated fuses...

I am familiar with stock AGC and other fuses for random applications. Yes the (actual) gold will be a better conductor. Yep, great for audio. Makes my 8-track sound like a cassette.

My concern was for the standard MB style fuse. Seems to me I saw some somewhere that were not the typical soldered link but a gold (at least colored) link and tips on the same style fuse.

Any ideas?

I would get them...why not....anything better is worth having if money is no object

I am not aware of MB having OEM gold AN-type fuses in any of their applications. I suppose you could buy them and try them out if you can find a supplier. I personally would find that a bit cost prohibitive IMHO.

Just stay away from the platinum-tipped spark plugs (for real)!
