104 Front Cover
Hello. I need some HELP! I've been in the battlefield with the dealership. They have diagnosed my oil seap from the engine as the front cover. Been told by some great individuals that the only thing I should use on the front cover is LOCTITE 5900. The dealership doesn't use it and only uses the MB stuff.
I asked why they don't use the 5900 and couldn't get an honest answer. Would appreciate any help from the members on suggestions to hopefully fix this problem THE RIGHT WAY! Rich |

I assume you are going to have the dealer make this repair? If so, then let them use whatever they want to use and if it starts leaking again take it back to them to re-do.

I know I talked to you before about this. i did have a chance to look on WIS, the info computer in the MB shops, and there is 2 entries in there in group 01 which specify Loctite 5900 as the approved sealant. There is one older entry in there which has an MB part number for a sealant, it should be deleted in my opinion. The dates on the bulletins mentioning the 5900 is dated 1997 and 1998, and pertains to several engines including the 103 and 104 front covers. Gilly
