On a neutral safety switch, what's this part for?

The white plastic ring around the plug seems to be a lock for the connector. What is the ear shaped part on the left side of it for for? Mine broke and I'll bet you have to buy the entire switch to get it.

The white ears are the elongated mounting bolt holes. They are oval for adjustment..

The black lever is the shift arm and it had that pin to secure it in the proper posistion of the shift linkage

I may be missing something in that answer, but I'm referring to the portion that is obscuring the part number, just right of the "4".

That is the lock position detent/alignment part of the lock ring.
If the lock ring still has a full unbroken circumference , the detent
alignment marks are not needed. Just make sure you have turned the ring to the lock position after harness is plugged back in.
I believe "Lock" is clockwise..

Look close at the Marks in the pic. One is lock, one is unlock
[ the little lines on the piece you referred to as "Ear"

My ring is intact. Just the part I was describing is broken.
