Flex disk W126
Browsing PelicanParts there are different flex disks for the different models W126, are they interchangeable?
Looking at the 1264100415, as they are the strongest apparently. Would they fit my 300SE? |
problem is like rubber wiper blades, finding fresh rubber flex disk. They age on shelf, you might buy European as they mantain cars longer.

A "strong" flex disk may make the feel of the shift different. They cushion the shift, that is why the direction F to R of their installation matters. Upon examining the bolt holes and the surrounding rubber of the hole will help to see how they work. It's one of those things that makes a Benz a notch above most other cars when they are " dialed in and on the money".

Six cylinder vehicles use a disc with a 90mm circle, eight cylinder, 110mm. The Pelican application table for the quoted P/N seems to erroneously lump both 6 & 8 cyl. types together. |

Jorn, I'd use the ones designated by any reputable manufacturer MBZ OE, FebiBilstein, Jurid etc.
Clonking shifts can be a transmission vacuum modulator leak or adjustment. Also check the driveshaft center support. |
The V8 flex discs are bigger. You'll likely have to change the flange

Had some time today to replace the flex disks on the 300SE today, was planning to do the rear but that one was still fine, so I left it alone for now. The front was another story, no cracks, but the metal sleeves were all lose and definitely causing the clunks, especially when I would left off on the gas. Whole new car, smooth as silk again. Used a Febi Bilstein/SGF disk, made in Germany, #1244100615

Awesome, good work. They are an interesting design that works well when they are in good condition.

After driving with the new flex disk for a couple of weeks, I noticed that an annoying high pitched whining sound I thought came from the transmission when in third gear at around 35mph has disappeared. Thumbs up!
