My 1990 300E heater fan motor stopped and the preliminary symptoms say motor brushes...not push button control...because there was a period of intermittant operation before failure. I have heard that one can replace the brushes at a much lower cost than the motor, by going in through the front, under the windshield wiper. Any truth to that hopeful tactic? |

The motor is located under the hood beneath the wiper mechanism, it takes about 2.5 hrs. to remove & replace the motor. Stay away from trying to replace just the brushes, the armature & other parts of the motor have just as many hours as the brushes. ------------------ MERCEDES BENZ MASTER GUILD TECHNICIAN ASE MASTER TECHNICIAN 27 YEARS M.B. I have also seen the blower regulator go faulty. Have it checked under a load. ------------------ Benzmac: ASE CERTIFIED MASTER AUTO TECHNICIAN LEAD TECHNICIAN FOR 14 BAY FACILITY MERCEDES SPECIALIST 8 YRS PARTNER IN MERCEDESSHOP.COM |
