Remote Key Question

Can anyone tell me if this is the correct remote key for a '96 E320 (W210) - (remote key P/N 210 760 1306)? If this is the correct key, could you tell me what's involved in activating the remote. Thanks in advance for the help.

Key for '96 W210

Thats the same part number as the key for my '97 E320 so I believe you are correct. Are you certain that the battery in the key is not bad or weak? This can keep the key from activating the locking system. Also, try all three sensors on the car - the driver door, the back of the rear-view mirror and the trunk lock. if none work and the battery in the key is fine, then there is something wrong in the guts of the system.

I think the '96 W210 cars use infrared remote locking - there is only one sensor and it sprouts out the bottom of the rear view mirror.

RE getting a new key to work; the owners manual tells how to re-synchronize the key. If you don't have your manual, let me know I'll read mine for you. Or (your best bet) try the search.

Number of IR Sensors

Sorry, I assumed '96 car had the same sensor config that '97 car has. Mine has the three sensors and all work to unlock car. I particuarlly like the fact that I can double click the trunk sensor and pop the trunk lid open.
