2008 ML320 lights staying on, rear windows wont roll up
I have a 2008 ML320 that i bought non running with a suspected bad ECM. I have had it for several months and have it sitting outside with a charger/maintainer on it. Battery has never gone dead. The other night we had a big storm blow thru and one of the kids said the next day they saw one of the cars out back with its light on. I figured the kid saw lightening reflecting off the cars or something. Yesterday I noticed that both rear windows on the ML were rolled completely down. That is strange. I checked the status of the charger and battery and it was completely dead. I hooked another battery to the car in order to get the charger to start charging and sure enough with the car completely off, headlight switch in the off position the lights stay on no matter way. Turning on the key the car comes to life except for the engine related stuff you would hear, but the back windows will not roll up. The front windows roll up and down just fine, and everything else electronic such as seats etc seem to work fine. Anyone have a clue as to what might be going on? My assumption is the storm must have somehow got a SAM wet. I was out around the car a couple of weeks ago and I would have noticed the windows being down at that time. The inside of the car does not seem wet, but I am going back out today to look closer. What fuse or fuses control the rear windows? I am looking thru the fuse diagrams and am either overlooking it or not seeing it. Is it the rear sam that controls the rear windows? I would not think it would also control the lights would it? Any ideas on how to at least get the windows up? I may try to get it pulled into the shop and go ahead and start working on it. I don't want it sitting out with the windows down. If I do end up having to swap a SAM out, will ones from a GL work? I have a GL parts car.
