Still need help w/trailer wiring
Hi,
I'm hoping that someone might know where I can find a source of a "T" connector trailer wiring adapter for my '86 300E, or at least where I might find some electrical connectors that are compatible with what's on the car so I can make my own adapter. I'm trying to avoid the use of Scotch-Lock connectors if at all possible. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help Gary |

For whats its worth
I took out the tail light "light bar" and soldered some wires to the back of it, then to a connector. It's mate I wired into the trailer harness.

pep boys sells a trailer wiring kit that does not put a load ont he car's electrical system as it is wired with its own power formt he battery.
I just bought one for my dad's 97 Range ROver 4.6 hse. so we can wire upt he trailer to it, even though we have my brothers 1993 range rover 4.2 to tow it. Alon

Alon- is correct, get the trailer wiring kit that senses but doesn't place a load on your taillights.
Placing a load on the tailights will cause problems with cruise control and the Lights-out monitor. I installed the above kit in our 1988 wagon. I tapped into the tailight connectors and powered it via the sunroof motor (yes I installed a fuse) positive (+) lead, instead of running a power lead all the way to the front of the car. Works like a charm, and no problems. :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG 1993 500E |
