Question Trans. Hesitates On Start

I have 89 300SE.
I am the original owner and it has 93,000 miles on it.
The car runs smoothly but sometimes when I press the gas pedal from the stand-still start, the car hesitates to move.
The more gas I give, more it hesitates. I can feel the engine pressure building but it barely moves going maybe 1 or 2 MPH.
Then suddenly, the car jumps and drives.
It does not do this all the time. But when it happens it drives me crazy.
Is it a trans or engine problem?
I would appreciate some advise!

James K.

If the tachometer doesn't start increasing, then the problem must be in the engines' fuel system.
Possibly a problem with air flow position(sensor) as it doesn't happen every time.

Me too!!!!

My S500L does this aswell, when i floor it from a standstill there is nothing for about 3/4 of a second, very unnerving during quick moves.
