my 86 190e-16v stalled on me at a stop light. i restarted it, but ounce i move 5feet or so it stalled again! it keeped this up for at least 4 restarts. my o2 sensor light came on during the stalling of my car. this happened at least 2 weeks ago, and it hasn't reoccured. what do you guys think the problem is? also >> my valves are quite noisy; every when or so should i adjust the valves on my 16v, and is it to much trouble to try and do it myself?......THANKS FOR YOUR REPLIES""""""

Possibly the running problem was caused by the overvoltage relay.
Valve adjustment on a 16V motor is "high-tech", requires removing the cams & uses shims for adjustment. Not many shops have the parts or ability. EXCESSIVE ENGINE NOISE can come from the timing chain, have it checked soon. |
The valve lash should be checked though every 15,000 per MB (yeah right)
