I was once told that the front rotors are not to be turned because they would warp. Is this true or was the mechanic trying to make out on selling me new rotors. There is a little ridge on the outer edge... The post on replacing the pads said nothing about replacing or turning the rotors...

This is a subject that can have many answers, so what does M.B. say? Under warranty M.B.USA says to reface brake rotors as long as the rotors will be 0.8mm above min. specs when the rotors are refinished.. Also only resurface "warped" rotors, as small grooves don't hurt braking performace.

The key here is the min thickness that is published by Mercedes. I have done repair for a long time and have never cut the rotors on a Mercedes.

Hi Peter
The Min Thickness on your front brake rotors
is stamp on the rim of the brake rotor.
That show you the safe thickness on your brake rotors.
Have your mechanic check it first.
If rotor are too thin,You have to replace it.
Because when rotor down below fectory min specs it will warped & crack easily and you don't want happen to you.
Good luck to you !

Has any one ever replaced the front rotors?
If so what is the torque for the bolts that hold the calipers on? The post is very informative about changing the brakes, but what is the torque specs for the 7mm allen bolts?>
