Dash board light out

I have a section of the dash in between the speedo and the tach on the '99 E300TD where the light has burnt out. Has anyone changed their own dash lights and can they tell me how to do it?

the last time l had this problem l gave the dash board a whack...and that was 4 months ago. one of these days that may not work anymore and may have to changeout the bulbs...but until then.........

Mine does that too occasionaly. On mine just gently hitting the dash above the lights works(Dont try to break it). Hope that fixes it for ya. I know I wouldnt want to pull out my gague cluster to replace a bulb, sounds like a pain.

Easy fix

Use the search function to find instructions on pulling your instrument panel off and accessing the bulbs. The only difficult part of the entire operation is swallowing the outrageous cost of the bulbs at the dealer. I don't remember how much they charged, but I do remember being quite surprised.

There is a tool that you can use to help remove the instrument cluster, but I just pulled mine out with my hands.

If you can't find it in the search function, I can hunt it down for you this w/e.

Easier to find than I thought. In case the link below doesn't work, i entered the following into the search engine: "bulbs instrument cluster e320"

http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/tech-help/26838-w210-instrument-cluster-light-bulb-replacement.html?highlight=bulbs+instrument+cluster+e320

I too did the clotheshanger tool but what really worked for me was removing the left speaker grill and vent and getting my fingers in there to push the cluster housing out from the rear. Popped out. There are a couple of rubber coated clips to secure/dampen vibration. They make the task a bit more challenging, but not by much.

Best of luck!:p
