I am a diesel mechanic on heavy truck for the last 11 years. I have bought my first Mercedes and I have the number 1 injector causing a fuel knock. I cracked the line and noise went away. My question is after the fuel line is off, does the injector pull out or does it turn out. If it turns out you would wrench the injector and not the lower cup, right? Thank you for all of your help.

It does turn out with a socket. Be careful though not to break off the little nipples that go to the fuel return hoses. And yes it is the injection nozzle, not the cup that turns out.
