Question 560sl Over Rev Protection

Help!

I need to get an "over rev protection" module for my '88 560sl. I understand this MIGHT be behind the glovebox.

Symptoms: The car WON'T let the RPM's go over 3200. It stutters no matter if I'm driving constant, reving the engine at idle, or really stepping on the gas... whenever the RPM needle hits 3200. Up to that point, she really sounds/drives great!

Anyone have a clue about where it is and a part number? I've searched the archives and found nothing on a 560sl.

Thanks!
Michael b.

That function is part of the fuel pump relay, part number 003-545-25-05. $142.00 list price

There were 3 earlier numbers 003-545-18-05, 003-545-01-05 & 002-545-16-05

Thanks...

but I just crawled under the dash and I don't have any of the part numbers you listed. I guess the previous owner bought the wrong one.

Here's what I have.
1. 003 545 20 05 - fuel pump relay (I guess this is the wrong one for my '88 560sl)

2. 006 545 85 32 - Idle Control

3. 002 545 18 05 - a/c relay

and 2 of these little silver boxes:
001 542 02 19

Question: could the wrong fuel pump relay be the cause of my problem? Does that number go to a different car?

That part number is for a W201.028 chassis(190E 2.3) 4 (four) cylinder & that is why the engine won't rev-up properly!!
