??? Proper tach reading on 190E

What is the proper tach reading while driving 70mph on a '87 190E. Seems like I should shift into a higher gear... currently displaying 3000 at said speed.

Good Evening:

Your tach reading is correct. I have a '93 190e 2.6 and mine reads exactly 3,000rpm's when I'm doing 70 down the interstate. It's slightly higher than that when I have the air conditioning running.

You're OK!

Best wishes.

Thanks for the reply! Its good to know.

It seems, however, that these are autobahn cruising vehicles and that 70mph is very mild compared to the speeds I use to drive when I was in Germany. Waaaaay back in the day, my best friend had bought a 190E 2.6 and we used to cruise it doing 240kph and hold it there for about an hour and half til we got to our destination. The ride was smooth as glass. Are the gear ratios different for the US MB's?
