1991, 190E, 2.3 Hot air from the side vents

Hi,
From the central vents when the Air condition is running, I get cold air, but the side vents and top" defroster' blow very hot air, it feels that the car bolws cold and hot in a mix mode, the pushbotton controller seems to work or change positions, would this be a monovalve or does the 190e does not have a monovalve, or would the push contorller botons needs to be changed. anyone with similar problem. thanks in advance

Is the heater control valve closing? Pinch off the heater hose the the valve and see if you get cold air from the sides. If so, check for either a vacum leak or a busted diaphram in the valve itself.

The valve is under the cowl cover on the r/h side, sometimes the vacum hose is routed under the battery tray and will be damaged by battery acid.

ANY vacuum leaks will cause this!
