190E Hard Start

I'm having a problem with my 89 190E, 2.6. It is getting progressively harder to start when the engine is hot. It seems as if it is not getting enough fuel. Also after running at highway speeds, it stalls when I come to a stop in traffic. This is an intermittent problem that my wife seems to have more than me. I checked the vacuum and it is holding at the bottom of the green arc at idle, (about 15 in hg). Is this a vacuum problem or should I be looking elsewhere? When the engine is cold, (overnight) It mostly starts fine, with occasional fits of being cantankerous.

internal fuel leaks.

suspects: cold start valve, injectors, acumulator (spl), fuel head and fuel pump check valve.

time for a hot soak rest pressure test.

I got in touch with my local MB guru. He told me that it seemed as if the combustion chamber were building up deposits. He recommended a good healthy dose of Techron. I tried this and it seems to be helping. It feels as if it is now getting progressively better as I drive the car. Ahh, the wonders of modern chemistry.

Neat thing about techron and BG 44K, not only do both products remove carbon from the backside of the intake valves, they also clean injectors, fuel pump check valves and so on. If you suspect you have a "bad case" run 2 cans in one tank and drive the car pretty hard.
