In my 1988 300E in the center of the console there is an LCD display that's blank. Is this where the outside temp is supposed to de displayed? Any ideas on correcting/fixing this?

TIA-

Outside temp LED blank usually is the sensor
locate behind your front plate bracket (is a cable with sensor at one end connector at other end) cable connector is locate inside
fuse box. if the LED turn black then you have
a faulty display unit.

My problem is different than yours.
The stupid engeneer who placed that thermometer under the front plate was certainly a young 10 years old boy... (the hot that the engine of a 560SEC blows out makes the sensor useless) the sensor indicates the outside temp to 40+ ?! Is there a way to readjust the temp so that when the sensor thinks it's 42 it will be 24? Or should I simply move the sensor to the back if possible...?

The LED is not black (doesn't seem 'burned out'). How do I check the sensor? Is there a fuse for this or is included with the instrument fuse or is on it's own.

Thanks again-

Good info guys.

Any idea on how I can fix this? The fuse is fine and the display seems to be in OK condition.
