Here's a good one: 190 rear door problem..

The right rear door on the '98 190E 2.3 will not open from the outside.

OK ... but the inside door latch is broken and will not open it from the inside as well.

Any suggestions? Is it even possible to get the interior door panel off while the door is closes?

Yikes!

door problems

I just replaced the back two door panels today and I think you can get your door open while the door is shut, then be able to take the door panel loose. I dont know if you have taken one off but just pop the little plastic piece out by the top part of the handle, which should reveal a screw u can take loose with a 10mm socket. Push the handle aside. Slide the whole black plastic piece forward (towards front seats) and pull the piece towards you while sliding the piece forward. This will unlatch the metal rod that controls the latch. You can pull this rod and your door should open. Take the rest of the panel down when your doors opens. It is just that little phillips screw by the latch that you need access to anyway. If you need the rest of the details let me know.

just thinking...

I'm thinking that after you unscrew the handle, if you look in there, the door latch rod probably is not even hooked into the handle and that is one of the reasons your door doesnt work... let me know..I'm curious now!
