A little clarifacation, B2. And only if the other shifts are in line, if they are all hard, turn the modulator in 1/2 turn until it's pretty smooth. (yeah, you should have it guaged for this but, you can get pretty close as long as you stay on the firm side)

Disconnected or leaking vacuum line to modulator can also cause hard shifts, but as Joe stated, it should be all of them. Not just 1 and 2.

Can anyone point me to Info or a procedure for checking for correct vacuum to the modulator on a '91 300E automatic?

Mine has shifted very, very firmly since new. It's OK with the A/C off but gets hard when it's on.

Thanks in advance,
Bud
