Unhappy Parking lights will not go out! 84 300TD

All right. so I had the infamous steering lock failure and had to pull the dash, drill out the pin and replace the ignition assembly. Everything works great, however my standing/parking lights (the bottom reds in back, the sides in front)won't turn off until I pull the Battery cable?! Now while I did have to remove the lighting switch from the dash, I did not mess with it or pull it apart. I suspect that this is an unrelated problem (to the ignition thing), but does anyone have enough electrical knowledge to help troubleshoot this with me?
Many Thanks in advance,
El Jefe de Biosmell

I don't understand why you removed the light switch, but the only guess I can make is you may not have installed the switch in it's original position, and you are now rotating it to the clearance light position. I know you've had the car along time, but start the car and see if the parking lights go off. Have you checked with Art at Auto Point Motor?

I removed the switch from the dash only, to remove the dash. The switch has its cover knob and a lock nut undrneath holding it to the dash. The switch also a keyway which fits precisly into the dash so that one cannot misalighn it. The standing lights are on even with the engine started.
