380/450 std. trans.
Can anyone tell me if a standard 4 speed transmission from a 450 slc will fit an automatic 380 slc?

4-SPEED TRANSMISSION
The 450 transmission is a 3-speed box (the 380 has 4). They are not interchangeable due to different bolt location holes on the intermediate plate.

I think Mr. Foss is talking about a _manual_ transmission -- some dialects of English use the word "standard" for manuals, because in the early days of automatics, the latter were always "optional at extra cost," even on Cadillacs.

Many thanks for the clarification on "standard" meaning application. However there still is no 4-speed box for the 450 SLC as Mercedes has no homologated manual box for this car.
