Uhhh, when changing one of the motor mounts I lost the bottom (hex) bolt; the top bolt is tight. The other mount is secure.
Is is safe to drive for about 30 mi to the dealer for the replacement bolt? Thanks, Andre. |
I might keep looking for that bolt or get a lift to the shop. If the motor twists around too much the fan could eat the radiator and cause much underhood destruction. Definitly not worth the risk in my opinion. Do you have any friends or relatives that can drive you down to the dealership? If not, I might consider calling a tow-truck.
Sorry I can't be the bearer of better news...Lee |
If you are careful and drive slowly, you should be able to make the trip. Be careful!!!

Thanks guys!
The bolt fell in the cross-support (for lack of a better word) - the hollow rectangular thing under the engine. I was able to fish it out of there - thru the holes. Still, the driver side engine mount is not changed - I was not able to loosen the top bolt. Any tricks required? Thanks. Andre 90 300E |
I use a small ratchet with the handle facing the front. Next I carefully insert a pry bar for leverage to loosen it. Then once loosened it usually comes out by hand.
