Engine number, need to order more parts
 

Hi guys,

Well got my car together today for the first time in a couple of months. Traveling a bunch for work. Anyway, I bent the "Heating Return Pipe" and I am trying to order a new one. I need the seal (o-ring) that goes with it.

I need my engine code. I did search and found postings that said look on motor near oil pan on passenger's side. I found the stamp, cleaned it and still had big trouble reading it.

Looked like 118 01 or 118 09, did not seem like enough digits.

My vin is: WDBEA26E4NB769970 Can anyone help me.

I want to order the new pipe ASAP.
It's the pipe that bolts onto / into the water pump and passes under the distributor cap across the front of the motor. Driveway covered with coolant.

I should have been a little more specific. I needed the series. I found it in the back of the Maintenance booklet.

It's called Heater Return Line...
 

Be sure to get a new o ring seal for the heater return line also.

I think its more likely that you have a leaking water pump shaft seal .... unless you can see the leak coming from the line. These usually do not corrode that much...but maby? Can you wiggle the water pump pulley? Normal is no movement or very very little movement even when you tug on the pulley with est. 20+ lbs of force or more.

It would be a shame to replace the pipe and then find that the leak was from the water pump !!

Your engine number is 103940-12-114781. You might want to write it down in your owners manual for future reference.

Thanks for the posts.

I did find the number on my maintenance booklet back cover (sheet of paper with codes had been attached).

I just finished doing the top timing chain cover lip seal, which necesitated the removal of the pipe. I did not unbolt the pipe from the block, just from the water pump. Before I realized it was bolted to the block I bent it. The balck o-ring seal was really old a crappy looking. The leak is coming from the pipe where it attaches to the pump. A self inflicted wound (the worst type).

I need to order the pipe and o-ring, will call Fastlane tomorrow.
