STUCK hazard button
I have a 1989 300 SEL. My husband pushed the red button to turn on our FLASHING HAZARD LIGHTS. When he pushed the button again to turn them off the BUTTON would not work. Instead of the firm push in one direction or the other it "moves-wobbles back and forth - but does not firmly click" into the On or Off position, so we can TURN off the flashing. This is a new problem. He removed the fuse until we could fix it.
1. He thought using a spray lubricant (W2 40) would help? 2. BEFORE he removed the correct fuse he removed all 4 of the large square units with multiple prongs that are in the fuse box. What are these for and will something now to be "reset or corrected" ????????????????????????????? PLEASE HELP ! |
Broken hazard switch. Put the "square things" back in their respective sockets. They're relays for various and sundry other functions. Hazard switch removal and replacement is probably your best bet, although they can sometimes be repaired (if you like lots of spring loaded little parts).

Since it does not "click"...
I would suspect you need a need switch. They are not that expensive and not too hard to change either.
