How to remove front bumper?
 

I need to remove the front bumper on my car so I can replace the chrome strip right in the center. How do I go on about changing it? Do I have to remove the entire bumper or is there an easier way?

There isn't anthing easier than taking off the front bumper, other than it's kind of heavy. There's 4 bolts, two on each side, easy to spot and get to.

Important safty tip though, take the temperature probe off first (it's behind the license plate holder) or the weight of the bumper will brake it.

Hi, as this will be my first ever work on a car... I need to get some more answers before I attempt the task.

When I lift the hood, I can see down behind the bumper two impact absorbers. Thats what I think they are and also a wire from behind the liscence plate going through into the engine area.
So the first thing I need to do is take care of the wire? Then I remove the 4 bolts (2 on each absorber) and the who assembly will pop out? Or are there any other hidden bolts that I need to unscrew? The bumper doesn't appear to be heavy.... well visually it doesn't. Just a few chrome trim and a hollow bumper cover. Oh well, we will see in a week:D ;)

Cheating on Mike Hotschuh?!? I've been meaning to thank you for giving me his phone number. He did a great job for me and has been quite helpful. I'll only be using him for the difficult stuff--hard to get time in his shop.

I need to replace the trim on one side of my front bumper, so I'll be watching this thread to see how you do.

I just had him fix my windows so they all operate now and had him replace the front brakes and fuel pump... other minor items as well. I want to work on my car too.. I want to learn things about it and not have some one else do the job. Its more of a learning experience for me more than anything. Not that I am "cheating" him :D :p

I will begin working next week when I recieve my part.

Speaking of which .... I just spray-painted me grill and put some new chrome accent strips on. While re-installing it I noticed that my universal belt is completely shredded. I'm supposed to drive to NJ tomorrow. Maybe Mike has a belt and can put it in tonight ...

Is this right?
