A/C w140 93 400 SEL
My A/C blower just started acting up on my 93 400 SEL. The air is cold enough however, it seems the blower is operating in the low range and the controls to increase the volume of air are not responding. Is this the beginning of the much talked about Evaporator problem in the w140?
Thanks for your help. Keith |

It is most likely just your blower regulator if it is still blowing cold. Here is one for auction at Ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1852495055

No, the evaporator indicates its failure by leaking out all the refrigerant. Since you still have cold air, it is not leaking.
The fan is most likely either a worn out motor or the climate control unit. Good luck, |

I just had to have my Blower Motor Resistor changed ($294 for the part) because of the same problem. It is now blowing fine, however, it appears I may have that evaporator problem as it does not blow cold anymore.

a/c blower regulator problem?
my '97 E320's a/c also blows cold, but won't go above 4th position (medium high). JM is probably right-after troubleshooting at MB dealer and after market shop came down to blower motor or most likely blower regulator. BTW-it's probably NOT the control panel, which they'll try to replace at about $900.! What's the replacement mod you're talking about?
