Accessories lights on dash stay on.

It began yesterday. When I turn off the engine and retrieve the key, the battery, brake and parking brake light remain on. Any help? Much appreciated.

What year and model? Got to give information to get information. Having said that I would be thinking about the alternator. Depends on the year but unplugging it will tell you if it is the alternator or not cause the lights will go out if it is the alternator.

same thing happened when I left the rear passenger window down in the rain. The carpet and a wire bundle below got soaked. It kept happening for 2 days and stopped after I dried out the cables i.e it sounds like a short somewhere.

I'm with fasthair here.

Check your alternator. Take care unplugging it with the battery connected. Is is possible to fry some components if you "jiggle" the connector on he way in or the way out. The rapid "power on - power off" situation blows the diodes.

But my money's on an inernal short in the alternator.
Not uncommon.
