300D Seat Removal & Defrost

Can anyone tell me how to remove the back seat back? I understand one can access the leads to the rear window defrost grid to check for continuity. How likely is the window defrost realy to fail? Car is an 83 300D. Fun to fix, just got cruise working again with a rebuilt amp.

push two bottons one on each side they are red, pull the seat up. Get 8mm socket, take out 3 bolts one on each side, one in the middle of the back rest part. Pull seat up, pull it toward the front, put it outside.

the pannels up on the sides are tricky to get out becareful or you will brake them, you have to kinda work them toward the front and pull the bottom out. Then you can see the leads...or you could just poke the wires.

Just a quick thought ... do you see any evidence of corrosion or general weirdness in the glass? Especially around where the power attaches to the window?

I had a rear window in a 124 series that had that and due to a leaking rear window gasket it allowed water to corrode the lead and it broke off. Needed to replace the window ($).

No, no corrosion or leaking that I can see. I am essentially trying to figure out if I have continuity before getting to involved with tracing wires and switches and such. Fuse checks out and I just won a relay on E-bay so if it's that I'll be ok too. If it's a bad windows I'm just gonna buy a new ice scrapper.

Don't know who rebuilt it. Won on E-bay, but I think it's Automotive Technical Service 4520 S. Navajo St. Unit D Englewood CO. Another source is GDL engineering. Find the via google GDL Mercedes for a search.
