w/c springs gives the biggest drop w/o cutting?

I've got an 86' 300E that I'm planning to lower in the near future.

1. Which lowering springs will lower the most without cutting them?
2. From what I've read, changing the pads to 1DOT will only lower the car 1/4 of a inch at the most. Is this true? If one were to change just the pads, will a difference be noticed?
3. What else would I have to install to keep the alignment straight?
4. I'd like to stick with the 15" rims after lowereing the car (only because the tires are MUCH cheaper than the larger diameter rims). Does anyone have pictures of their car lowered on 15" rims? I'd like to get an idea of what my car would look like.

At this point, I'm keeping my options open. I want my car lowered, but I also want to be able to carry 6 adults in the car without any rubbing. Any suggestions?
