How to determine the engine series to buy a compressor
for the AC either the 15 or 17 type without having to look from underneath the car?

I get 3 number posibilitys

000-230-11-11
000-230-24-11
000-230-05-11

You should be able to look at the back of the unit and get the benz number off of it, I use a mirror from the top. :-)
