190e found gas leak. which hose where?

Please see photo at link. when I start the engine I can see gas dripping out the the hose at the end of the pressure regulator. The hose is not connected to anything, it is open to air.
First is it normal for gas to be dripping out? Does this mean a defective pressure regulator?
Second is the hose supposed to be connected to something? There is another hose nearby that would fit perfectly. The photo shows the two hoses. Thank you for any help, love this site.

Oh, and replace your fuel pressure regulator. It has expired. Didn't you have cold start problems?

If there is fuel coming out of the pressure regulator then the regulator is bad (expired) and needs to be replaced. And yes the white plastic line does connect to the rubber hose on the pressure regulator.

Thank you, i have been trying to find this problem for a long time, glad its finally found. One last question, can this cause the car to start hard? If so is this because of the leaking fuel or the disconnected hoses?

Machnumber2,

The hard start is due to the leaking diaphram in the fuel pressure regulator. Usually if the car sits for an extended period, there is a fuel pressure leak which results in a hard start. Replacement is relatively simple.
