fuel distributor 420 sel

I just bought a 1986 420 sel. The idle has become rough and it spitters a little when I take off from a stand still. I took it in to my local MB shop, they proceeded to "tap" the fuel distributor as per MB maintenance. It ran great for about 10 miles and than the idle was rough and the motor misses again. Is the fuel distributor bad or is there a fuel distributor repair kit, or is there dirt in the fuel system that a little fuel injector cleaner won't fix. This is my first MB so please be gentle. thanks Louis
