Theft alarm
Hello people, new to this, but in need of hurried assistance. Parade coming up on Sunday, (Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival) friends grandaughter (Cajun Heritage Queen) is riding in my Merc. Went to charge it up today, seems like the trickle charger I bought is not doing it's job, needed to move it to wash and wax, cranked it up and the theft alarm went off. Please, how do I disconnect it. The remote does not work it was given to me crushed when I purchased the car. I have had to disconnect the battery, and have connected the battery back but the alarm is still active. Please help. The Merc is a 1984 380SL.

If your alarm has a remote, it's not a factory alarm and can be any of a dozen aftermarket brands. Locate the siren and cut the wires so it's not blaring while you try to figure it out. If you don't know your way around automotive electricals, take it to a reputable stereo shop and have them figure it out... assuming it'll start. If the alarm has a starter interrupt feature, cutting and pulling random wires will do nothing to allow you to start the engine.
Good luck. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL |
