W140 shifter lighting

Why isnt the shifter (PRND-4321 in my 93 W140 lit? I have a few blown interior lights: lower half of hazard light and pasengers digital temp selection. The shifter in my fathers 99 140 is lit. Do I have a problem or is this just yet another early prduction misfortune?

The bulbs just get old and burn out, just like the light bulbs in your house - they need to be changed from time to time.

Others have had problems with aftermarket bulbs, so I'd just get replacement bulbs at the dealer if you plan on doing it yourself.

So.......

Are all of them conected to one lamp? Can i change them myself?

You will have to change each bulb separately.

If you pull the gauge cluster off, it is a good idea to replace all the bulbs behind there at one time. I've pulled off the gauge cluster on my W124, but I've never done it on a W140. Try the search function and see if it's been posted.

Also, I changed the bulb in the gear shifter about two months ago, and it wasn't difficult. I used the search function and it was posted in detail before. I remember reading about this on a W140 several months ago.

I sometimes struggle with the search function, but if you can put in the right words, it'll come up.l

Good luck.
