Squeaky front end !
 

My 300E sounds like an old wooden floor when I turn corners. Then squeak seems to be coming from the passenger side front. But I cant seem to find it. It is very noticable from in and out of the car. Help!!

forgot to mention.. I have replaced these parts as of late but have had no problems until now. ..
Bilstein struts, h&R springs, tie rods, drag link, brake pads and rotors....Today is the first day that the sun has been out in a week and a half. I wonder if all this rainy damp weather has anything to do with this.

Sway bar bushings!
 

Specially if you can hear it while turning.:cool:

Try bouncing the passenger side fender real hard - if you hear the squeak - it could be your lower ball joint.

The sway bar bushings have also been recently replaced I wonder if that is why there squeaking. I sprayed some WD-40 on them earlier. ALso I can here the squeaking if I bounce the car really hard but couldn't that be the sway bar bushings too. In addition I sprayed some white lithium grease on and around the lower ball joint too.

idler arm bushings
 

Hi,

Willing to bet it's your idler arm bushings, sounds like a creaky door, very loud and embarrassing. Just did fix myself a month ago. Easy fix, do a search on idler arm bushings. There is a tricky step needed to be performed to deal with exhaust in way.

Will take about 45 minutes from start to finish, parts are cheap.

on my 560sel it was the lower ball joint. To eliminate it as the culprit - have someone else bounce the fender while you put your hand on the ball joint - you will feel it vibrate if it is seizing up. As for the other bushings - put the front end on ramps and go underneath with a stethoscope and listen to each bushing as someone bounces the fender - you will find it.

well Unfortunately the noise seems to be coming from my lower ball joint.. I quess this means its done for ...Is it safe to drive this thing for a few days before I dole at the cash to have it repaired?.Since I dont own a correct spring compresser or a ball joint press.

The lower ball joints are good diy'er type of jobs. You don't have to compress the spring and it is pretty straightforward to seperate them. You can rent the press tool for a couple weeks. Do a search. If you have never done it before plan on using up a Sat morning.

The ball joint is seizing up - not falling apart. Drive carefully trying to avoid potholes and you SHOULD make it a few days. I drove mine for a week before I found what was causing the noise.
