Question Replacing fuel pump and fuel filter for 85 380SE

I am thinking about replacing the fuel pump and the fuel filter for my 85 380SE. Both have been there for 11 years and it's about time to replace them.

I have the engine serivce manual for the task but I don't know how much gasoline will come out when I lose the the bolts on the pump and the filter. Will the gasoline keep flowing out or it will stop eventually?

Since I will get involved with the gasoline, is this task safe for DIY?

Anything special I need to pay attention in oder to complete the task safely?

I appreciate your help.

Get a pair of pinch off pliers. Otherwise you'll be very wet, chaffed and smell bad. :-) When you pull the pump it will empty the tank.
