W 140 Speaker in the doors. & ASR Light

Oh knowleagable one...

Have a 95 W 140 withy speakers in the front doors. Wanting to replace them. No body knows the size. Looks like 6 1/2 and a 5'' to me. Any idea. Also how much trouble is it replacing them.

Have been having her shut down to no power w/asr ligh on...then slap her in nuteral and restart andthen good for awhile. Just had the wiring harness replaced because there were some bare wires showing from the heat. The mechanic said that this should not happen on a car with 70k on her. Oh well. He said that the wiring harness was a good place to start. Then the next day ASR light again. So what is you take? Should we replace the ASR Computer?
Thanks

Chad

Get a scanner . . .

and read the DTCs in the car. That should give you a clue. If the wiring harness is very brittle, then that can cause all kinds of problems.

Re the door speakers: Remove the door panel and the speakers are exposed. They sit in a baffle so the size may be smaller than you think.

The panel comes off fairly easily: there's a screw in behind the handle that MUST come off.
