87 190E Belt tensioner
Well instead of having problems I took care of one. I replaced my auto belt tensioner, belt, and damper. Still got some busted knuckles but all in all it took only about 2 hours. Surprised to find american size bolt holding the damper. Used 1/2" socket fit better than the 13mm.
Anyway, if anyone needs help let me know |
Damn, Hou- cost me $280 at the mech! $$$ saved :o
|
1/2" socket is 12.7mm so it would usually fit a 13mm head especially if either are a bit worn.

My mechanic quoted a little over $400. I paid about $200 for all the parts. If my mechanic quoted what yours did; he would have done it! :D

Hou, do you have any idea if my car has a belt tensioner? I'm going in for a servicing this Sat, and I've bought all my belts - A/C belt, fan belt, power steering belt. But I was told by the sales rep there isnt a belt tensioner for my car.
Any ideas? Thanks. 1983 Euro W126 (280SEL) - M110 engine |
