300E Coil Wire Routing?
Hello all:
I just replaced the original OEM ignition wires with a replacement Beru set. They are all in, but I am trying to remember the preferred routing for the coil wire from the distributor cap to the coil. Should it go in front of or aft of the thermostat housing? I currently have it running in front, but I am worried about the effects of the t-stat housing's heat on the coil wire over time. Where should it go? I appreciate replies as always, otherwise I'll swing by a local independent when I get a chance. Thanks, Steve |
Place it aft of the water pump...
and pull it somewhat tight to the coil itself. You should see a white plastic clip next to the coil that will hold the excess coil wire in place.
Good luck! |
Thanks, Paul. Set it up just as you described. With the new wires and the new fuel injectors I put in this summer, my 300E is performing like it should.

I was confused by this question because my '91 300E has that wire held by three nylon clips. If the wire wasn't in those clips, it must have been replaced previously w/o using the clips.
