300E Coil Wire Routing?

Hello all:

I just replaced the original OEM ignition wires with a replacement Beru set. They are all in, but I am trying to remember the preferred routing for the coil wire from the distributor cap to the coil.

Should it go in front of or aft of the thermostat housing? I currently have it running in front, but I am worried about the effects of the t-stat housing's heat on the coil wire over time.

Where should it go?

I appreciate replies as always, otherwise I'll swing by a local independent when I get a chance.

Thanks,

Steve

Place it aft of the water pump...

and pull it somewhat tight to the coil itself. You should see a white plastic clip next to the coil that will hold the excess coil wire in place.

Good luck!

Thanks, Paul. Set it up just as you described. With the new wires and the new fuel injectors I put in this summer, my 300E is performing like it should.

I was confused by this question because my '91 300E has that wire held by three nylon clips. If the wire wasn't in those clips, it must have been replaced previously w/o using the clips.
