96 C280 Rt Rear View Mirror Switch

My right rear view mirror is inoperable and I have been told it is ususally the switch although I haven't verified that there is no power to mirror yet. I have further learned that the 96 switch is different from the 94 and also different from the 97-98 switch. The 96 is only available through purchase of a center console 'switch pack' which includes all the switches located on the center console. My question is: Has anyone ever fitted or heard of anyone fitting a 95 switch in a 96 model as the 95 is available as an individual switch? I believe the 95 switch is abut $25 and the 96 switch pack is about $95. Thanks for any enlightenment that might come my way on this problem.

I have no idea on your question. However, I would like to point out that if you go to your first post and hit the "edit" button in the lower right corner, you can make corrections to your post instead of a second "correction" post. You can also delete the "correction" post in the same screen, after you've corrected the first one.

Gilly,

Thanks for the instructions on the operation of the message board. I get in too much of a hurry sometimes.

Upon considering your question, it seems that there are major differences in the wiring of that switch pack you have vs the wiring that would be used for the individual switch arrangement used in the earlier models. i think you're stuck with buying the whole thing.
