HELP!!!!!!!! 190D -1985 rear shocks.

I'm completely confused. Rear shocks in my 190D (1985) seem to be upside down with the rods attached to the control arm and protected with rubber bump stops (kinda like the front struts on top). The bump stops sit in "nests" within the control arm, so that's a factory design, not a chop job. Haynes, dealer, my certified MB tech, and thebenzbin.com don't know what to make of it. I don't want to order new shocks w/o confirming the right part, and I cannot find the rubber stops anywhere, anyway.

Help, anybody??????????:(

I replaced my shocks with Boge Sachs which are supposed to be original equipment and the cover was on top like the original equipment. I purchased KYB and the cover was upside down and filled up with debris and caused early failure of the shock. I didn't like the looks of the KYB shocks they did not look like the original equipment and are a very poor design that collects dirt and grime in the cover. The KYB's are cheap and they never rode as good as the Boge when they wer new. The oil leaked completely out of the right rear shock and the piston rusted and made a horrible noise squeaking and knocking and I drove.

I forgot to mention to buy the Boge Sachs they really ride well and the design looks like the right part. If you bought KYBs they look wrong.

No wait, I'm talking about the original factory shocks. this will be the first replacement. I want to go with Bilsteins, but, as I said, the original factory-mounted shocks seems to be upside down. Go figure.
